Annual Meeting & Presentation by Phillip Carcia

7 pm - December 9 - 2022

Please join us at the Wachusett Mountain State Reservation Visitor Center, Fri December 9 at 7 PM for a presentation by Philip Carcia. Philip has been a long distance hiker with accomplishments like the Appalachian Trail and others, but more recently has concentrated on setting records in the White Mountains. Only a few years ago he set an elapsed time record for the Grid, hiking all 48 4,000 footers in each month and in a single year, 319 days. This past summer, after two previous attempts, he managed to hike every trail in the AMC White Mountain Guide book in a single summer season. The statistics for this feat are staggering. Miles hiked and elevation gained are not really comprehendible by us ordinary folks. Philip did his early training right here on Wachusett Mountain and sings the praises of our rugged rocky terrain. It's only fitting that he bring this presentation to the Visitor Center. We'll be gaining insights into the planning, strategies and motivations that made these feats possible and we'll be treated to some spectacular photography from these special places. There will be a question-and-answer period following the presentation. And preceding it will be a short overview, by the Friends and DCR, of local programs available at the mountain.

The event is open to the public.
